Set on 40 acres of farmland, there is a vast array of on-property experiences at Carrie’s Cottage, from waterskiing and fishing to bird watching and bush walking. Alternatively, just sit back, relax and soak up the river views from the cottage verandah. In the winter months enjoy the crisp days and snuggle up at night in front of the wood fired heater.
For twitchers, there is a variety of native flora and birds on the farm and adjacent state forest. View the many species of birds around the farm’s fresh water lagoon.
Water lovers will enjoy the fact that Carrie’s Cottage boasts almost a kilometre of river frontage and its own sandy beach and sheltered BBQ area. Launch a boat or kayak, or use the pontoon to cast out a line - it's a great spot to while away the hours.
As well as being one of the last major undammed rivers in Eastern Australia, the Clyde River is also one of the cleanest. The recent establishment of the Batemans Marine Park means fish stocks are in good supply.
The beautiful beaches of the South Coast are just a short 8kms away from Carrie's Cottage, along with other local attractions and the historic villages of Nelligen, Mogo, Braidwood and Tilba.
The historic village of Nelligen is only a 1km walk away, with cafes, children’s playground and a historic information walk. Merinda Cruises also visits Nelligen daily. A little further along the highway you’ll come to the Steampacket Hotel.
It is only a 7km drive to the town centre of Batemans Bay and its surrounding beaches. Batemans Bay is a large regional centre with plenty of restaurants, cafes, 36 hole golf course, clubs and twin cinema, along with most of the services you will need.
There are plenty of local attractions in the region including Mogo Zoo, Birdland Animal Park, Montague Island, and nearby historic towns of Mogo, Tilba and Braidwood. There are Saturday morning markets at Moruya and many local wineries to visit. Fish, kayak and swim at your doorstep or head into town for surfing, golfing, snorkelling or to hire a jetski.
